I had an idea that I was walking into an outstanding beer selection based on my visit to its sister location in Wind Lake many years ago. Aman's Beer + Wine in Mukwonago delivers a clean store with enough space to walk around without feeling crowded, and a majority of the beer being kept cold. As you walk through the first door, there's a flight of stairs and an elevator which takes you upstairs to the lounge where you can order a drink (I would circle back to the lounge), or continue walking at ground level to access the shop.
Imports are separate from American beers, and the import selection is very respectable with brands like 3 Fonteinen, Saison Dupont, Alexander Rodenbach, Erdinger, and more. The American selection dominates, with a larger focu on regional brands. There's one long barge which seems to be shelving for limited run/rarer beers, such as D20 Brew at $50 a bottle. The cold box stretches about half the length of the store. At one of the corners is a handsome walk-in cigar room. Beer and cigars; I'm keeping my balloon unpoped as I have found love. Prices for each beer sold plus a quick checkout with two checkers at the retail store should equal a good service score. Let's circle back to the lounge as I promised.....
I walked up the stairs and my eyes adored the way it looked. It feels like a place I want to spend time at. There's a bar with 8 different beer taps, and an array of tools for professional bartenders. One problem; no bartender. The lounge was open. After a few minutes, I walked out because nobody came. I really wanted to spend time in the lounge with a drink in hand. I'm splitting the score difference between the store and the lounge in the service area.
