Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: medium-brown hue with plenty of haze. Head is a thin layer of light-tan foam; not too bad.

Smell: sweet aroma with a strong malt element and a bit of a hi-test alcoholic character. The alcohol aroma punches above the 7% at which this guy is listed.

Taste: very bready and sweet, with a bit of toastiness and just a little bit of biscuit. Reminds me of an altbier or American amber ale more than anything.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and a nice creaminess. Not bad at all.

Overall: this beer isn't completely to my taste. There's lots of bread and biscuit, and not much of the fruitiness I often enjoy in the style.

Pours a handsome dark amber red in the tall Petrus goblet. Decent foam and plenty of carbonation in the mouth. Interesting nose of rye bread and flowery hops.

Malty with a distinct salty caramel flavor. This has that English character with the fruity hops and slightly odd Old Ale hint. Slightly buttery and bitterish at the same time. Some murky and herbal notes.

There is a "what is this" moment for a couple of gulps, but then it turns into a different but very pleasant brew. Hoppy and warm with a refreshing light body. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle.

22oz from Fred Meyer in S.Salem ( Commercial St. store). Surprised to see this at Freddys hope this gives this small brewery a boost. $3.99. Certainty looks like an English style ale in my Imperial nonic glass..chesnut brown with a small creme coloured head. Attractive. Smells of english hop, tobacco, toffee, light cocoa..very nice and very authentic. Taste is the same as aroma with a bit of demerara sugar and hazelnut, lovely quite lovely. Great palate to this one,low carbonation and smooth finish. A very good English ESB really better than any i have tasted from American brewer

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear light mahogany color with just over a half-inch of light khaki head that had moderate retention and light lacing.

The aroma was mostly slightly sweet malts, with just a hint of a leather/tobacco note, a bit of yeast spice and just a hint of alcohol. The flavor profile was pretty similar, with the alcohol being hidden and the malts dominating.

The body was nicely full and smooth, although there was just a bit of stickiness on the finish. Drinkability was very good, this big beer went down easily, and there may be another in my future. Overall, a very solid take on the style. Certainly worth your time if you see it, and very close to being a must try.

Pours out a lightly hazed brownish-coppery color with a single finger of sand colored head that lasts for about two minutes, leaving behind some concentric rings of lacing on the glass. Medium body and carbonation levels.

Smells mostly of the expected English style earthy-toffee-bready malt blend with a small side serving of chocolate and pitted fruits. The flavor is more dry, leafy, and nutty than the nose had led me to expect, and it has hardly any of the fruitiness from the nose at all! ABV is very well hidden. This is... a fairly nice beer but not really something to go out of your way to acquire.
