Pours a dark reddish-brown with a thin tan head that lasts longer than expected and leaves a surprising amount of lacing.
Good malty aroma with a bit of spicy hops
Taste is nicely rich, a little smokey, and has some coffee in the finish.
Medium body with a fine dry finish.
O - well above average for style: fresher, slightly hoppier, and with very good mouthfeel. Very nice version of a rather unexcited style.

On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a clear and deep brown color with a two-finger tan head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of muted roasted malt aromas with hints of lighter toasted malts. Also present as the beer warms are hints of toffee.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Toasted malt flavors kick things off with darker, roastier, undertones. Midway through the sip the flavor profile sweetens a bit and hints of toffee make their way into things. The flavors remain mildly sweet up until a lightly bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a solid thickness with moderate carbonation.
Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.
Overall this was a solid beer for the style but could be a bit bolder. Still, worth a shot.

The color is more brownish than red, but it is still a good beer color, with a nice thick head. It does not have much of a "bouquet" (if you'll pardon the wine term), but the ale flavor is rich and quite hoppy, and has a bite to it. The mouth-feel is tingly and pleasant without any unpleasant bitterness. This is one beer I will drink again, given the chance.

This beer pours a nut brown color with a decent head that sticks around for a little while. Fairly fluffy head that is slightly offwhite. The smell is roasty and creamy. A nice clean malt aroma is present, but it is definitely dry rather than sticky. The flavors are a little light but there is a good balance of light roastiness and maltiness. Dry and quite pleasant- there is a touch of sweetness here, but just enough to round out the roasted flavors and give a little added depth to the beer. Nice medium carbonation and medium body. Very pleasant session beer.
