Appearance: Near black body capped with a tall, dense coating of tan-colored foam.

Smell: Predominately coffee-scented nose of well roasted grains backed by some modest hints of unsweetened chocolate.

Taste: Sharp start with a jolt of acrid-accented coffee. A square or two from a bar of dark chocolate. Only lightly sweet. Roasty, earthy bitterness hits midway and lasts through to the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Soft, gentle mouthfeel overall.

Drinkability: Simple but sufficient for a coffee stout.

Pours a deep, warm, opaque sable with a fairly thick and persistent fine-bubbled pale beige head. Aroma is strongly of fine roast coffee with an undertone of unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is mainly coffee and has firm, smoky undertones of unsweet chocolate and malt. Texture is velvety smooth and fairly tingly. A must for stouties.

Pours opaque black with a one-finger creamy tan head. The head dissipates slowly, and there's still a small pancake left when I finish. The lacing is pretty sticky, and I can track my sips.

Smells mostly of roasted malts with a good amount of coffee in there too. There's also an almost metallic aroma that I can't quite put my finger on.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Equal parts roasted malt and coffee up front, and as the beer warms there's a bit of dark chocolate. However, the amount of flavor also diminishes as the beer warms. There's a solid bitterness throughout.

Mouthfeel is good, as is to be expected. A good thickness is accompanied by mild carbonation to make this one go down smoothly.

Drinkability is good, I had no problem finishing one and I could certainly go for another.

Overall this is a solid beer that was helped along by the choice to put it on nitro-tap. Definitely worth a shot.
