Part of a series of bottles put out by Twain's. Served at the brewpub.
Pours a clear copper color with a half-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving light lacing.
Smells of caramel malts with whiskey and vanilla aromas and a slightly vegetal undertone. As it warms the malt aromas subside a bit and the vanilla aromas increase.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though with less vegetal influence. Sweet malt flavors up front are joined by well-integrated whiskey and vanilla that carry through to a mildly bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with solid carbonation.
Drinkability is good. I enjoyed the bottle however I'm not sure about another.
Overall this was an interesting beer that is close to being very good. My only complaint is the off-flavor that I have a hard time describing. Despite that it's still worth a shot.
