On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a half-finger tan head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of smooth toasted malts with hints of deeper roasted malts and light chocolate. As it warms faint amounts of nutty aromas also waft out.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though not quite as clean. Toasted malt flavors kick things off. Joining in shortly thereafter are mild amounts of roasted malt flavors and hints of breadiness. Both flavors combine to carry through to a slightly muddled and moderately bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass without any problems and could have another.
Overall I wish this beer tasted as nice as it smelled. The aroma made me believe it would be a crisp and traditional brown however the flavor profile didn't quite pull through. Still, a solid beer that's worth a shot.
