On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a dark brown color with a half-finger tan head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of dark malts with good amounts of bruised bananas. Also present are slight hints of green apple aromas.
Tastes cleaner than it smells. Dark malt flavors with very slight hints of wheat kick things off. Joining in shortly thereafter are smooth banana flavors and light amounts of pears. The fruit flavors sweeten up midway through the sip and carry through to a crisp ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass without any problems and could have another.
Overall this was a solid beer for the style but lacked slight nuances (a creamier mouthfeel and heavier malt to name two) to put it over the top. Still, worth a shot if you see it on and you're a fan of the style.
