Appearance: Lightly hazed, darkish amber body with a whitish, wispy head and a good amount of lace on the drop.
Smell: Lightly toasted bread, lightly toasted whole oats overlayed with a floral, citrusy tone of lemon and ruby red grapefruit from the hops.
Taste: A light, restrained sprinkling of light brown sugar atop lightly nutty, toasted wholesome oats. Fresh lemon and grapefruit citrus kicks, lightly citric, from the hops. Moderate bitterness. Leisurely dries out, leaving a juicy citrus taste on the smooth finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: Blushing Ape has an agreeable citrusy character, but, with the addition of oats, it sits apart from the run-of-the-mill reds.
