Comes in a brown plastic one liter bottle with a yellow label featuring a big "L", with "Lager" above and "Angliskiy Ale" below. How an ale can be a lager is beyond me, but the back label talks about top fermentation, so I'm going with ale for this one. The taste bears this out. Sugar is an ingredient. Best before 4/12/04, I opened it on 11/18/03.
Pours a cloudy whitish yeloow under a thin and short-lived white head that leaves some collar, but no lace. The nose is tart, rather like raspberry. The mouth is quite prickly and fairly light, despite the sweetness. The opening taste is more fruity than malty, with very little hops bringing up the rear. The aftertaste is fizzy and sweet. This might pass as a bad Belgian ale, but is far from my memory of English ales.
