Tall brown half liter bottle with an elongated neck and a red and silver label featuring the brewery's trademark "L" in the middle. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 7/15/05, I opened it on 3/20/05.
Pours a very dark burgundy that starts clear but is later cloudy by the sendiment from the bottle. The head is non-existent - up to a half a finger of tan bubbles appear on the pour, but disappear just as quickly. No lace, or any other trace of foam 3 seconds after the pour stops. The nose is very sweet and fruity - raspberry. The mouth is well carbonated, fairly heavy and sticky, very much the consistency of a dark sparkling wine, or a wine spritzer. The taste is quite fruity, with grape joining the raspberry. There are some malty undertones here and just a hint of hops in the finish. Otherwise, I'd think this was a wine. Some people may like it, but I'm not one of them.
