On tap at Casual Pint in Rivergate Shopping Center, served in a 12 oz Stemmed Tulip Glass
The beer pours black with no visible highlights when held up to light, and a smallish tan head that recedes slowly leaving behind no lacing to speak of
The aroma is quite sweet; big peanut butter and chocolate up front with some roasty notes as the beer warms.
The flavor, like the nose, is all milk chocolate and peanut butter up front, with some roasty malts peeking through as the beer warms. Full bodied and creamy, lightly carbonated and finishes slick on the tongue.
Overall this is much better than I expected. Too often beers that feature peanut butter end up overly sweet and artificial tasting. NoDa did a great job with this one!

IMHO...nope! Upfront, it held promise, but the PB in the aftertaste reminds me of what I used to get in MRE's! Been there, done that, don't want it in my beer!

So many beers like this go to an extreme that they can become unpleasant. Yes, this is a big beer. Imperial Porter with chocolate and peanut butter? Yeah, that just sounds syrupy, cloyingly sweet, and too rich for a full pour... but NoDa Brewing has been pushing the edge without going too far for a while now and this is a great example of how to make a very drinkable and enjoyable big imperial Porter.
Roasted peanuts come forward on both the nose and the tongue. Dark cocoa and a solid roasted malt finish. The 9.2 abv is reasonably well hidden. For a beer of its type, its wild to see how many people in the taproom order a second pour.
So many examples of beers out there that get it wrong, really makes Captain Peanut Butter's Chocolate Revenge stand out because NoDa Brewing gets it so right.

Pours a dark black with a nice tan/brown head. Great aroma of peanut butter and chocolate. Taste just like it smells with a good balance of chocolate and peanut butter and a hint of bitterness. Has a smooth and creamy feel. Overall, a great beer that I wish they made more often.
