Appearance: Arrives with a russet color capped by an inch of foam; gobs of stringy lace hang around
Smell: Caramel and pine, with herbaceous tones
Taste: The caramel and pine combine to create a nicely balanced platform that is neither too sweet nor too bitter; in the middle, the herbaceous bitterness builds to some extent; the finish leans bitter but not overly so
Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation
Overall: Certainly an interesting twist on an amber that avoids the caramel sweetness that makes so many of them a disappointment; well-balanced and clearly the kind of beer that befits a Brewers Guild collaboration
