Superior Lupulin Utilization Research Project, aka SLURP. This juicy, imperial IPA uses this unique flavor concept from hops in the mash as the foundation of an amazing citrus hop ride. Big SLURP is hopped with Galaxy, Cascade, Ekuanot and Centennial hops and is infused with tangerine zest and orange zest.

It is a cloudy beer that presents a distinct visual aesthetic in contrast to the delivered taste. It has a fruity aroma that carries over into a sour, nearly bitter taste of whiskied wheat mango, which delivers a sharp aftertaste. It has the bite of what's expected of an Imperial IPA, but there are definitely better overall offerings available.

12 oz can purchased earlier this month but, alas, has a canning date nearly 1 year ago. At least it was refrigerated and shows no signs of deterioration, although I don't know how a fresh version would compare.
Appearance. Cloudy, straw colored body with a good white head.
Very fruity aroma with a flavor that's more dank and grassy, less sweet, and has more bready and grainy flavor. ABV is poorly hidden, at least after some warming.
(Taste rating bumped up .25 to allow for adverse aging effects)

I am trying a can of this beer whilst at my bestie's house in Charlotte, NC. It poured a hazy golden with thin white ring head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had grapefruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp light malt base and bitter grapefruit citrus presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.
