a hoppy amber pale ale thats been aged extensively in both ru and bourbon barrels, very woody and mature, and really complex with the spirits influencing this so much. there is a nice pucker to it, a slowly developed acidity it would seem, fairly clean and lactic, but with a musty farmy funk to this as well, really nice yeast profile overall, far more complex than anything else i have seen crazy mountain do. the rum adds a nice sweetness and a faint coconut note, the whiskey imparts a little vanilla hint, and both of them contribute a ton of wet oak. this has a liquid lumber vibe. still quite hoppy despite the maturity it has, lemons and orange peel and pine, and some needed bitterness and freshness to balance out the sweet and the age. its really smooth too for having this much acidity, it doesnt sit funny in the belly or anything at all, and the richer malt base helps with that, propping up the body and giving a uniformity to the texture, this might be a little disparate without it. overall an excellent beer, a cool barrel blend, and a new high water mark of ambition from crazy mountain!
