on draft at Forest & Main - in mug
appears a burnt orange in color, a little cloudy, with white head. Toasted malt flavor, firm bitterness in the finish. Thinner bodied. easy drinking

16oz can purchased from the fridge at a local bottle shop as part of a 4-pack for $14.99 plus tax. I think that this may be the second batch of this beer that was canned, and it was recently released so it's pretty fresh.
Look: Nice dark amber / copper color and nice clarity. Very slight haze after pouring the rest of the can. There didn't seem to be much of a hiss when I opened the can and the carbonation seems to be on the lighter side based on the appearance. There was a finger of beige head that dissipated to a very thin layer.
Smell: Nice malty nose that is nutty and showing nice cocoa powder and earthy, dusty notes. There are also interesting floral notes on the finish. It actually smells a bit perfumy on the finish which is a bit weird but not uncharacteristic for the style.
Taste: It's nice - very smooth and drinkable. Up front, it has some nice caramel and toffee notes along with chestnut and hazelnut notes, also combining with nice earthy cocoa powder flavor. A bit of orange rind and orange marmalade also.
The finish has a very moderate, tempered bitterness that hums for a long time in a "low-volume" way. The finish is also peppery and a bit floral. The use of cascade hops, while not typical for an English Bitter, is nice and interesting. It seems to work here. It is as advertised - this is an "ordinary" English Bitter. It's delicate and subtle in flavor and expression. It's also probably not going to wow you so much. For me, I think that the more I drink it, the more I enjoy it. I think that it is done well; however I think that perhaps it could be better if it had a bit more carbonation.
Feel: Its body is definitely on the lighter side as it is only 3.5% ABV. It's very smooth. A bit under-carbonated in my opinion. All said and done, the carbonation is actually probably quite characteristic and appropriate for the style.
Overall: It's tasty. It's always good to find a style of beer like this, especially when it's brewed and canned locally. All said and done, this is actually a very enjoyable beer that is so drinkable and tasty that it's gone before you know it. It is taking me back to my college days, where I loved to frequent The Old Toad in Rochester, NY and order hand-pulled cask ales.
