Bright hazy yellow. Looks like the stuff I've had actually from the east coast.
Fruity, galaxy-y.
Snappy, lingering citrus with a slight acidic sting. Pungent melon and orange, not bitter.
Thick, carb level feels right.

On-draught @ the brewpub. 12oz/$8 USD.
8.0% ABV. "Hazy double IPA with Motueka, Galaxy, Vic Secret."
Pours a pulpy murky yellow of average vibrance. Nontransparent. Certainly hazy. Head is white in colour but recedes fully within 30 seconds.
Aroma hints at citrus peel and zest...lime and tangerine, mainly. Fruity but not too tropical. Fruit puree, tangy yogurt-like aromatics, pulp. Bitterness seems well checked by malty sweetness.
Taste follows the aroma, hitting on heavy fruity flavours redolent of citrus zest, orange pulp, tangy yogurt, tropical tangerine, and papaya. Bitterness is minimal, but unlike many imperial IPAs the minimal bitterness doesn't come at the expense of depth of hop flavour or the vividness of constituent hops.
Smooth, refreshing, medium-bodied, approachable, pulpy, slightly chewy.
It's devilishly drinkable fare that exceeds the sum of its parts. I don't know that I've had an imperial IPA with this specific hop mix, but the result is an inspired expression of the style that manages to distance itself from the herd of same old same old Mosaic and Kiwi hopped imperial IPAs sweeping the nation. Up there with the better hazy imperial IPAs the kids like to call "New England IPAs" that I've tried, though it does still want for the hop pungency found in more assertively bitter imperial IPAs.
If you can stomach its New York City level pricing, it's well worth trying and easily bests most L.A. brewed (I)IPAs in my book - even if I'd sooner reach for a substantially cheaper example of the style like Lagunitas' Lagunitas Sucks when in the mood for an imperial IPA.

Poured from a growler a hazy, mashed corn light yellow, under a one inch thick white head which fades to the rim and leaves sheet and splotchy lace. Aroma is pungently floral with pineapple tropical fruits, pears and rustic grains. Flavor is juicy grape skin, stone fruit pits, tropical fruit and sweetish jolly rancher candy. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Soft, creamsicle-like smoothness with faint bitterness and lingering juices. Liked this.
