Hazy golden body with a decent finger or two of head (depending on how hard you poor). Lacing and retention are good but not outstanding. Good looking NE IPA.
Nose is grassy earthy and floral with some mangos popping through. Sweet nectar like notes as well.
Taste is so much more than the nose, candied peaches, mangos, and some grapefruit with subtle grass and earth notes to keep things in balance. Very juice-y.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with prickly carbonation some numbing alcohol and a dry yet juicy finish. Not a lot of alcohol flavor but definitely some palate numbing properties. Sweet yet dry. Very nice balance.
Honestly, I've been losing interest in IPA's lately, and the whole NE IPA thing felt like a gimmick. This beer has reminded me how important freshness is and has gotten me exited to try more NE IPA's. Juicy tropical fruits balanced by earth and grassy bitterness. The nose doesn't convey much but once it hits your tongue this beers bursts through with a powerful array of flavors. I had some Pliny on tap last night and was underwhelmed. I had this on tap today and rediscovered my love for a well composed IPA. Kick ass job Highland Park!!! Seriously keep it up.
