A Thiccc Imperial Stout with Ethiopia Guji Shakiso Kayon Natural process coffee from Trystero Coffee with Ugandan Vanilla beans. For this new spin on Griffith J. Griffith, we tweaked the recipe to really amplify it's decadence. In addition to a larger grain bill for increased body we threw in heaps of vanilla to take this new spin on Griffith to the next level. The perfect beer to indulge in before a brisk exploration around Griffith Park.

On tap at Modern Times PDX.
Black with a thin dark brown head that falls off rapidly leaving little lacing this looks solid. The nose has a ton of chocolate and vanilla, with the chocolate having a rather artificial sweetness. There is also some coffee, a mildly fruity bright note that doesn't entirely work. Mild roast, caramel, toffee, honey, butterscotch. The palate opens with a blend of coffee, artificial chocolate and vanilla. Despite drinking this alongside some modern times pastry stouts, in struck by how sweet these are, with minimal bitterness or depth to temper the sweetness. Sweet coffee with a Vietnamese coffee like sweetened condensed milk note. Vanilla lingers on the finish with more chocolate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, this tastes too sweet.
