Coconut Tree is a 13.8% ABV barrel aged imperial stout absolutely packed with coconut. This beer is a blend of imperial stouts aged in Widow Jane bourbon barrel for 14 months and then topped off with 17 lbs/bbl of coconut. The coconut added is made up of 1/3 double toasted, and 2/3 toasted coconut. The double toasted added a nice extra depth, reminiscent of hazelnut that really took the addition to another level. As we prepared for, and tasted the barrels, we loved what the Widow Jane barrels brought to the base stout: tons of coconut, cordial, and crème brûlée that was a perfect canvas for the coconut finish.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours a VERY thick and viscous black with minimal head. The nose is like smelling freshly baked banana bread. Some coconut comes through, but the banana dominates for me. Also getting layers of chocolate and malts. Not super complex here.

The taste follows the nose. Huge banana notes right out of the gate. Chocolate, coconut, bread, malts, sweet. Again, pretty one-dimensional. Not my favorite. Body is huge and viscous.
