Bottle # 3007 into snifter
L- Black pour (not the darkest) with minimal light colored head. Minimal lacing
S- Bourbon, reminiscent of Goose Island Bourbon
T- Solid alcohol bite, 80% smooth with that 20% bite aftertaste
F- Silky but not coating or thick, on the lighter side of mouth feel
O- Not bad but a bit disappointing, was expecting more...I do like most of what DuClaw does (sweet baby jesus and dirty little freak for sure)

Aged bottle, jet black opaque body with a finger of tan foam. Smell is straight bourbon booze, hints of cocoa, cola, wood and dark fruit. Taste sees the booze be a little more artsy, but still not the most balanced, molasses and licorice come to the surface more. Feel is boozy, no way around it, hot hot hot! Age even longer friends

Brief write-up. The age has made it nice and smooth, that's for sure. Even still, it brings a nice bourbon character, all while retaining rock-solid balance. I seem to get more Misery than Retribution here: the malt character is spicy and wheat-like, but I do pick up subtle chocolate and roast. There's a definite reason this is still on the shelf in my area after ~15 months in the bottle - it's good, but certainly NOT $25 good.
3.42/5: A classic example of a solid beer that's way overpriced
