Straw colored German-style Hefeweizen. Made with a 50/50 mix of malted wheat and barley malt, and a special German yeast that tempts fate and your palate with illusory flavors of exotic banana and spicy clove that linger throughout its refreshing finish.

Okay, this is NOT straw-colored - it's amber-colored. That, and the head texture/retention sucks (plus the body is mostly clear!) It smells like a typical hefeweizen, though, with notes of banana, clove, and wheat. And that's just it - it smells utterly average within the style (maybe even a touch below). While I taste some banana and clove, I also seemingly pick up a powerful off note of green apple - just like Rolling Rock! The feel is off, too: it's too clean yet not dry enough. A proper hefe should be the exact opposite. Even at 3 months old (albeit stored in a chilled area), this sucks far more than it should have. One of the worst examples of this style I've had yet (I should know, I really enjoy a good hefeweizen...) Products like this are exactly why Maryland craft beer isn't taken seriously by nearly anyone else outside of the state.

Pours clear, gold, with one inch head. Taste is the usual flavors of banana, clove, coriander, and wheat. I am impressed with how clean this is. While I prefer German versions of this style more, this is a very tasty beverage. I would get this one again.

I'm a fan of hefeweizens, especially Weihenstephaner, which means that others usually do not measure up. This beer doesn't even come close. Don't bother.
