A slightly cloudy light amber hue presenting a multitude of tiny carbonation bubbles. They contribute to a very nice white head and all the glass lace needed. A clean hoppy aroma prevails around the glass and just emptied can. The taste is initially smooth and starchy, then some of the hop tastes take over. The mouthfeel is noteworthyly smooth for a DIPA. Overall, this rating is tempered by an almost cloyingly superficial sweetness that even the hops can't allow taste buds to ignore. Also, the alcohol bites a little too much, it's reasonable for its ABV.

I was not kidding, during New DelMarVa (+ DC) DuClaw Sunday (Week 778), when I said that my diving into my DuClaw backlog would be like diving into the depths of the Marianas Trench! I am going to be with them for a while to come, all in support of The CANQuest (tm). This is simply CANother in this ongoing madness.
From the CAN: "Azacca/Simcoe/Mosaic Double India Pale Ale"; "Dad Bod: This juicy, golden, Double IPA gives Dad exactly what he wants: a refreshing and highly drinkable blend of piney, tropical and citrus hop flavors culled from a dynamic blend of Simcoe, Mosaic and Azacca. Now pop the top and start working on your DAD BOD".
CANother proud photo upload leads up to this Crack!ing open of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was pleasantly surprised (?) when it foamed up nicely to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with decent retention, taking its time to fall away to wisps. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was an interesting mélange of Simcoe the naughty kitty doing her catty business on a fruit basket of mango, papaya and guava while orange-grapefruit juice was being poured nearby! 8=O Mouthfeel was big, full & creamy, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. The taste, while intense, did not measure up to the promise of the nose. That is not to say that there was anything wrong with it, but it just did not have the same piney/tropical/citrus/cattiness of its nose. Still, this was a whopper! Man, this was a hophead's dream. I'd be curious to know its measured bitterness (IBUs), since they did not post them on the label, but it was the kind of AIIPA/ADIPA that packs a wallop without being in-your-face hoppy & bitter. I do not mind bitterness, but this would probably be more appealing to a wider audience. Gawt dang, but this was good! The hops really worked well together to create an eminently drinkable CANbination. I was a tad dubious when I read its hops bill, but they had clearly done their homework to find the right CANbination thereof, allowing no one flavor to be predominant. Instead, it was a pleasant, dangerously drinkable beer. Finish was dry, of course, but not gasping. I was very impressed by/with this one. YMMV.

DATE: July 6, 2019... OCCASION: the night continues with some leftovers from the Fourth... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... this pours a reasonable amber body with white flares of arching coral... raspberry, blueberry, melon, dank basement courtesy of the mosaic, orange peel, light clove and pepper, and a juicy smack of resin... its body is not like a dad's--er, not like mine, at least--with a strong, understated medium-bodied presence that one would expect from the Greatest Generation, perhaps... its finish is dry, Saaz-like, but the fruitiness of the Azacca drives this boldly forward... this drinks like a juicy hop bomb, belying its 80 IBUs with a thick resin, dank basement, sweet berry, and grainy herbs that make this quite an eclectic experience... this is a tough one to follow King Sue, but it offers a variety of flavors and textures that make the profile engaging enough...
