Let the fighting begin. This is a very good baltic porter. Nice heavy black-brown with a creamy off-white head. Smells of roasty sweetness alomst a tootsie roll smell. Tastes a little sweet with a pinch of smoke but clean like a lager. Silky smooth mouthfeel and the alcohol is well hidden. Too drinkable and a good adition for Duclaw.

This is a baltic porter, served on the first release night at the Arundel Mills location. The ale is served in a Pint Club tumbler and is slightly chilled.
Appearance: From my wife's glass, I can see that the ale is a deep brown-black color. When held to light, deep brown colors emerge.
Smell: A roasted malt aroma, similar to a dunkel lager dominates the nose.
Taste: Roasted malts and a soft hop bite are the flavors that I pick up on. The roasted malts and lager yeast give the ale a sweeter, more low key flavor while the hops add just enough of a kick to make themselves known.
Mouthfeel: The ale sits very well on the palate, with the caramelized character from the roasted malts really taking over.
Drinkability: A good first stab at a Baltic Porter. I found that the second pint had more flavor, so this ale obviously gets better with age.
