12 oz can, canned 10/29/18, into Boiler snifter.
A nice dark hazelnut pour yields a dark brown to black body with a bubbly beige cap of 1/4 finger, receding to a thick fingernail and leaving little bubbles on top. POP!
Aroma, well DuClaw sure has this dessert beer style down pat, as evidenced by their other flagships as well. Caramel cookie is straight out front, like those little swirly hole cookies with the chocolate bottoms (*Samoas. I forgot). I don't get much barrel in this but there is just a touch of wet bourbon oak underneath. I want to say there's some perfume-y brandy in here as well, but it's faint just like the oak.
Flavor brings a fight of herbal sage and caramel cookie. It's like the bitter part (if you can pull it out even) of a Samoa. I suppose that would be the cocoa/oatmeal. But amplified x5. It's tough to get used to. There's some scathing hot alcohol or barrel going on here that really destroys the sweetness of this beer, detracting the drinkability a bit.
Feel is thin, hot, a little slick, and then roasty and acidic on the finish.
Overall, I feel like this was aged in Brandy barrels for some reason. It just has that floral, acidic, tannic, scathing character. Definitely not as sweet as the nose would suggest, and you get a rather heavily roasted imperial stout with brandy character and a little cookie aftertaste with the flavor profile. It is one to drink while mindlessly playing video games I suppose. As weird as it is, I'm sure I'll finish it. Not sure I'd give it another go-round though.
Price paid : $6.99 / can
Would buy again : probably not

Imperial stout with vanilla and graham crackers aged for 6 months in Bourbon barrels. Poured from a can into a Lost Abbey Teku. The pour is very, very dark brown (not quite black) and has a well-formed two-finger head of fine tan foam. Good retention. The nose really does smell like chocolate cookies. I get nice aromas of cocoa powder and toasted malt, a hint of vanilla, and a little toasted oak as well.
Full bodied with a silky feel and an intense, complex flavor. Up front the beer is quite sweet, with strong notes of sweet malt, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, and milk chocolate. As the beer moves across the palate, the flavors develop a bit to graham cracker and unsweetened chocolate. The finish has all the chocolate as well as some roast and toasted oak. The feel is not as firm as one would expect from a beer so flavorful, but the overall quality is excellent. As the beer warms the vanilla and cocoa come forward and the finish takes on a sarsaparilla-like note.

Pours opaque, dark black in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is chocolate chip cookie dough, caramel, and light roasted malt. Very sweet, medium bodied, with medium low carbonation. Excellent dessert stout..Right up there with Southern Tier for sweet stouts. Most cookie dough taste I have had in any stout.

Dark tan head. Smell is spice. Flavor is nice. Somewhat sweet, but not overly. Chocolate, caramel. Almost some apple. One of the better batches from 2018

4/22/18 barrel dating with a 10/22/18 canning date...
Black in the glass with a thin finger of dark brown foam that slips quickly into a slim collar... On the nose, aromas of rich chocolate and sweet caramel with bourbon... On the tongue, more of that deep chocolate flavor follows, with caramel and vanilla, sweet bourbon, and yes - I guess there is something of a cookie/graham cracker/molasses element at play too... The beer does not go too sweet though - there is an edge of bitterness akin to cold coffee and wood char that maintains a balance between bitter and sweet... The feel is medium-full, with enough barrel action to impart a little tannic tautness, and enough carbonation to give it some tickle... Very pleased with this beer - recommended...

Pours quite black, 2 fingers of toffee head slowly fade. Mix of medium and fine bubble.
Smells like salted caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, graham cracker.
Taste is chocolate cookie up front, some coffee mingles in. Bitter notes of dark chocolate follow. Traces of caramel, pretzel.
Mouthfeel is near creamy, slight tingle of carb.
Overall, the nose is amazing in this, taste doesn't quite follow, but its still great. Glad to have the chance to try this. I would strongly consider picking up another can to age a bit to see if it smooths things out a little. Definitely worth a try if you have the chance though.
