Canned 10/30/18, "Patience Justified".
Odell snifter.
Pours black as night with a brown fingernail of head. The legs on this thing too. Wonderful sticking as it's swirled.
Incredible rich apple brandy barrel aromas mixed with bakers cocoa and cinnamon. Borders on a chocolate aroma but doesn't quite get there - too dry. Slight antiseptic but it's permissible here.
Flavor brings you the "apple" in apple brandy. It's actually quite tart/sweet like a Red Delicious apple. Some notes of cocoa, boysenberry, oak, cider, rosemary, and blackberry brandy also come forward. The finish is tart and sweet apple and apple liqueur. It's quite eclectic.
Feel is slick and slippery all the way to the bank, with some tingling carbonation as well as some stinging alcohol, drying out intensely on the finish leaving your tongue wrung out like a saloon washcloth.
Overall, a noble attempt and I'll drink nearly apple brandy anything, so this was pretty good. There's a good display of flavors here, but what I think what's missing is depth. Everything kind of spreads out on the surface and fights with each other (especially the rosemary), leading to some palate confusion.
Price paid : $6.99 / can
Would buy again : Maybe, I'd like to try the 6 month version first though
