This medium-bodied sour has deep, sweet ripened black cherries with a touch of tart cranberry bitterness. Carolina Reaper hot pepper comes at the back of the palate, initiating a slight burn. The hot doesn’t overpower but encourages additional sips to regain the fruited sour front end.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Slightly cloudy pink/maroon pour with big fluffy white head. Nice ring of lacing.
S: Tart and fruity. Cherry cocktail.
T.F: Sweet/tart leaning towards tart. Strong cherry/cranberry. A bit of lemon citrus and funk, but mostly cherry. Medium to light bodied... well carbonated. Minimal heat from the Carolina Reaper at the finish... barely noticeable.
O: A decent tart cherry/cranberry sour. They big-time oversold the 'Carolina Reaper' aspect of this beer... the heat was negligible. Still not a bad beer.

A: The beer is slightly hazy cherry red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high pink head that quickly died down, leaving a couple of small patches of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of black cherries are present in the nose along with hints of cranberries and chili peppers.
T: The taste is a little sour and starts off with flavors of black cherries and notes of cranberry juice. The Carolina Reaper peppers are only noticeable in the finish and contribute hints of chili flavors and a bit of heat.
M: It feels mostly light-bodied on the palate and has a light amount of tartness and chili heat along with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: When seeing that Carolina Reaper hot peppers were in ingredient in this beer I thought this might end up being a really spicy chili beer but was pleasantly surprised that this tasted like a fruited sour with just a little chili and heat in the finish to lend a bit of complexity to the flavors.
