CAND now, review/rating #7,000! That's 7K, folks! I actually had something else planned, but just before leaving for work yesterday afternoon, I noticed a CAN pooching in the heat & decided to get it into the reefer before it exploded. Haste, as usual, made waste as I knocked this CAN off of its perch, denting it mightily. Or so I thought. Upon returning home, it evinced a slow leak, indiCANTing that it had been pierced along its seam. 8=( That moved it to the front of the line!
From the CAN: "Citra Snuggy Double India Pale Ale"; "NOT Seen On TV"; "Craft Be Cherished. Rules Be Damned."; "Drink Now!"; "Experience blankety-soft beer with our oversized Citra Snuggy double IPA! USA made with 100% Citra hops. Notes of mango, pineapple and stonefruit. One size fits all adults. Drink comfy."
The addition of oats left me curious: should there be an IPA - Imperial New England style? Hmm.
I Crack!ed open the vent & the hiss told me that although it was leaking, it had not offgassed its CO2 & become oxidized. I would have wept! I CANtinued with a quick, heavy-handed C-Line Glug so as not to waste any more time. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention, leaving behind loads of sticky lacing as it finally fell. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was redolent with grapefruit & pineapple! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite as dense as many in the style, but still on the big side. The taste beCAN with the grapefruit-pineapple taste of its nose & warming, added mango. Mmm. It was entirely too drinkable for its ABV & went down far too quickly. Phew! This was CANother winning entry from DuClaw & I am sorry that I had to drink it under such circumsCANses. YMMV.

A - Medium gold color with perfect clarity and frothy sticky white lacing. Carbonation is moderate and steady with tight small bubbles.
S - Aroma is faint but what is there is sticky citrus, stone fruit, and light pineapple.
T - Sweet malt from start to finish with tropical citrus over the top: pineapple is present but stone fruit dominates.
Finishes balanced and on the sweeter side. Eventually the citrus
M - Thick and silky with soft carbonation.
O - For a D-IPA, not much personality.

A: A beautiful and dense foam topping that was seashell white in color sitting two fingers above a deep pumpkin orange colored body. Light misty haze has a full strength of macro-bubbles raging within. Lacing is strong on the vessel walls, lots of micro island like dabs. Head retention was very good and lasting coverage. Strong and thirsty looking appearance.
S: Peaches and fresh melon fruitiness are first on the nose, wet and juicy and of good strength. There is cantaloupe, apricot juice and some sweet sugary citrus tones, along with some tropical pineapple. Digging deeper you will discover fresh apple slices.
T: The flavor had some semi-dry tropical hops and dank citrus on the open. There was a particular sense of orange cream, along with some pineapple fruitiness and breakfast fruit (cantaloupe) like flair and accents. Dank and fresh at the start there's some bittering citrus flower of dry hops that follow along with some apples and pine spicing. The malting is bready full, with a sting of tart dry peach hops and yeastiness.
M: Bready mouthful, full malts in display, creamy and thick with a strong sense of carbonation. A big orange creamsicle like twang to it makes a good first impression with a high like-ability factor. Drinks strong and stays favorable throughout. Nice hoppy-alcohol fueled fruity ipa.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, little else. Taste has mango, pineapple, citrus, a touch of alcohol, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Hilarious and effective. What else is there to say about it? It's IPA in a can. If you want an IPA in a can, Citra Snuggy has got you covered. Keep the can afterwards, so you can look back on it and go "Yeah, they really made that"
At 38 IBU and 8.3% ABV, it does an excellent job. This beer is completely acceptable.
I don't know who this guy on the label is, but this man is solid gold!
