All this begins by emptying a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. It looks like carbonated dark pineapple juice, with a just-off-white head. Pineapple, coconut and some sort of hops and malt inclusions are obvious to the nose, with the added flavors dominating. The taste is interesting, because it remains true to an AIPA, with a pronounced malt and bitter hop profile. The pineapple and coconut aspects, so much a part of the aroma, become accessory layers of its taste, as this has a very nice dose of both hops and malt. There's no glass lacing and the head doesn't sustain, but that's OK. This isn't close to a fruited sour that attempts to mimic a pina colada. This is an American IPA that includes some coconut and pineapple flavors. That inclusion is well done and this is a recommended try.

Nice dark golden haze. A nice head that sticks around for a bit. I like the mouth feel of this beer, and the taste has all the flavors you'd expect from something labeling itself as a piña colada IPA. Even though I've never been a huge fan of coconut, I didn't find it overpowering. I would gladly drink again.

The pour is a hazy golden yellow. The taste is monk fruit, pineapple, & I'm picking up on the coconut flakes near the finish. In addition to, the beer drinks creamy, thick, & smooth. This was a good summer drink but I have had a few better pina colada type of beers previously. Cheers! B

For those times when an escape to a tropical island in needed, DuClaw Brewing comes to the rescue! ...at least for the tastebuds.
Getaway Message pours a diffused glow of golden yellow while crowning with a fluffy white foam. As the nose leads in, the senses are hit with a soothing array of pineapple, coconut, vanilla and other tropical, citrus aromas. Its perfumy aromas transition to a creamy and equally smooth maltiness that lays a bed of shortcake, vanilla wafer and cereal.
The hazy IPA further favors the hops as it releases a bevy of fruit flavor on the middle palate. Leading with obvious tropical flavors, its strong pineapple and coconut flavors are strong and dominate the complementary hop notes of grapefruit, orange, lime and passionfruit. Tangy, racy and even zesty, the beer closes with a slightly more bitter than sweet taste of tea, spruce and fresh grassiness.
Medium bodied and plump from start to finish, the ale offers a spicy hop finish that aids in crispness and refreshment in a medium length aftertaste of those intended pina colada flavors. Its the best of both worlds.
