Cloudy golden body with a slightly brownish tinge. Head production and retention are OK.
Maple syrup is prominent on the nose, followed closely by cinnamon and nutmeg. It does, indeed, smell like French toast! I'm not picking up any strawberry, specifically, but there is a slight tartness to the aroma.
Flavor is an interesting blend of sour, sweet, and spice: maple syrup, mild vinegar-like sourness, a vague berry-like tartness (not particularly evoking strawberries), a sweet doughy malt base, and a nicely restrained dash of spices. The strawberry flavor grows over time, but it never rises to prominence.
Bigger bodied than you'd expect given the ABV.
What is this beer? Is it a dessert beer? Is it a sour ale? Is it a fruited sour? It's kind of ... all of those, rolled into one, and I think DuClaw actually pulls it off quite well.

Check it out sour ale fans, this is your wakeup call! A sour ale that borrows what's best about breakfast is surely enough to drag us out of bed. Strawberry, cream, maple, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla all rolled onto a sour ale might just wake up the tastebuds anytime day or night.
Pouring bright gold, the beer's shocking savory scent is chocked full of syrup and spice as its aroma drifts onto the nose immediately. Also floating above its zesty white cap lies more nuanced berry and cream. As the first taste greets the palate, a light pastry maltiness highlights the sweet cream, sourdough, croissant, maple and crust.
But while the Strawberry French Toast version of Sour Me washes the middle palate, it ushers in refreshment with the savory and tangy flavors of exactly red berries in their most under-ripened, green and racy taste. While the underlying sourness of tart apple, lime, lemon, gooseberry, grape and grapefruit tease the tastebuds with acidity, the beer trends tart, brisk and with a sour and savory late taste.
Trending decidedly tart, its the brisk acidity that carries the balance against the light pastry, bready malts that linger on the tongue, finishing with an off-clean sour taste and a hint of sourdough and burlap. A quick finish of the red fruits leads to a fast aftertaste rhubarb and cinnamon spice.

Appearance:
Hazy, golden orange, like the epicenter of a marigold. At the very center of the glass is an undying font of champagne bubbles. Despite visible carbonation in the body, the ale is headless.
Bouquet:
A veritable flood of dark maple syrup; awash within this deeply caramelized torrent are hints of vanilla and traces of strawberry preserves.
Feel:
A robust yet slippery medium, its relaxed carbonation lapping at the tip of the tongue in small, foamy waves.
Taste:
Fruited sours, replaced instantly by a burgeoning mouthful of tart, toothsome strawberries. The just-ripe strawberry lingers a tad, then its abruptly overthrown by dark maple syrup, aged on vanilla beans. A tiny dot of freshly whipped cream drops in microseconds before flavor ceases. You’ve gotta be sharp to catch it.
Overall:
Strikes a careful balance between tartness and sweetness.
