Atypical is the color, which is copper. Nose is only slightly sour smelling. Taste is "WHOA PUCKER UP!!!" sour. The flavors of the puree really come through, finishing with a soft plum flavor. Good Stuff.

Don't let the colder days of late winter leave a sour taste in your mouth. Instead, let Duclaw Brewing do that with their pomegranate, plum and passionfruit infused kettle soured ale. It's sure to put a sparkle on your palate as well as on your gloomy day.
Pouring surprisingly blonde in color, the fine mesh haze floats a stark white swath of sea foam. As the scent of sour candies rise from the froth, the nose is caught with cider and wine each laced with those stone fruits, tropical fruit and tangy berries. Its scant sweetness first latches onto the tastebuds with the softer confectioner's sweetness of sweetheart powdered candies, sourdough and taffy.
As the beer's acidity washes the middle palate, it chases away any lasting sweetness and refreshes the palate with an acutely clean, brisk and simply sourness that plays out like crabapple, lime, lemon and sour white grape on the tongue. With more of a retro-olfactory suggestion of plum, pomegranate and passionfruit dancing above the tongue, the finish comes quickly with a juicy dryness and lactic acid.
Light bodied, crisp and succinct, the essence of fruit swirls around the session while the taste is effortless. While it may lack complexity and elevated charm, the beer is a sure fire delight for fans of sour ale to get us closer to summer.
