Somewhat hazy golden, decent white head that is soon gone, there is some lacing. Nose is fine, nice hint of grapefruit. Like most citrus sours, the citrus doesn’t present well in flavor, more sharp and sour without the juicy or sweet aspects, like citrus peel instead of fruit. Lacking body. It’s ok

Pale semi-hazy yellow with a sparse foamy fast receding head. Grapefruit and lime definitely dominate, with fainter notes of apple and grape. Moderate body and carbonation.

Let the madness begin! Modeled after the paloma cocktail drink, DuClaw brewers take their German-styled sour ale with lime, grapefruit and salt to give everyone at the party something to rave about.
Palomani! gets the party started with a soft and cloudy haze suspended inside a medium straw hue. As a frothy ivory cap greets the rim, the scent of citrus, cereal grain, sourdough and a soft hint of sea air rolls from the foam. A mildly sweet, mildly creamy flavor of sourdough, vanilla wheat and a kiss of floral honey set a malty tone early in taste.
As the flavors roll along the middle palate, the sweetness relaxes and takes on a supporting starchy role to balance the rise of fruit. Grapefruit and lime also carry hints of lemon, green apple, white grape and gooseberry with the underlying sourness bringing its own tangy fruity elements. Trending herbal with a nearly minty hop bite, the late taste is softly bittered with citrus peels along with a damp burlap and sourdough late taste.
Medium bodied and fitting the part of Gose quite well, DuClaw certainly understands the style and how their Poloma character fits in. The beer finishes brisk with a short extension of fruit peels and freshly zested citrus.
