Notes via stream of consciousness: This is the oldest beer in my fridge right now so it's got to go, but at the same time six months of age on a fruited sour shouldn't be an issue. Is it even real fruit? Holy Schmidt!!! It looks like it is! The label reads "ALE WITH WATERMELON & CHERRY" and there's no mention of flavorings. Its slightly hazy body is a deep golden/amber that seems to change color as you move it about and let in more or less light. Its highlights are golden and a touch pink. Checking for the bubbles I can see some visible particulate in suspension. The head is a thumb's width of creamy white foam that holds remarkably well for it being a sour ale. That's surprising as well considering that I don't see a whole lot of bubbles rising below. In the nose I'm clearly getting both cherry and watermelon. I really have to question at this point wether it's just real fruit or not as it seems like there's some flavoring going on. The label states that it has a "candy scent", and it does. On to the taste then, it mimics the aroma as is usually the case. Both the cherry and the watermelon remain, candyish, within a sweet and gently wheaty malt base. There's some green apple and white grape in there as well. There can't be a lot of bitterness to it, and I'm going to guess that it's like 5 to 8 IBUs or something like that. More importantly, although there is some acidity to it it's not really that tart against the sweetness that's there. As it is, the balance is perfect and any more acidity would have thrown it off in my book. So far I have to say that this is a home run, although the head did drop as soon as I started sipping at it. Maybe my lips are oily. I won't fault it as it held up really well initially. So what else is there? It's medium bodied although it does feel a little dextrinous. I wonder if there's some lactose in here. I don't taste it though so I'm guessing not, it's probably just mashed high. The carbonation is right on. It's soft and delicate but along with the snap of acidity it works great. Now there's the "overall" to look at. I'm about halfway through right now and I'm kind of petered out. I often invoke the "one trick pony" analogy and I think that fits here, but as I usually also say, at least it's a good trick! Yeah, this is great. It delivers exactly what it promises, nothing more and nothing less. If it seems like something you might like, you definitely will.

A glance at the candy aisle will show a vast display of sour fruitiness from end to end. And now that momentum extends into the beer aisle with DuClaw and their Sour Me series. Watermelon and cherry flavors grace a cleanly soured ale that'll be a hit among beer nerds everywhere.
Light rouge and glowing with a bright and rosy hue, Sour Me Watermelon Cherry pops with a spritzy froth for a quick moment before loosing its structure and falling still. A tantalizing scent of the advertised fruits come alive with a spritzer character with hints of sourdough and acidity on the nose. A mild mannered sweetness bounces off the tongue with the confectioner's taste of powdered sugar, taffy and fructose.
Moderate in its sweetness, the malty remnants of taste quickly dissolve and the bright taste of watermelon hits first, and then with a restrained cherry taste secondarily on the middle palate. Shifting quickly toward sourness, the fruit flavors expand further with green apple, gooseberry, lime, lemon and rose wine. Clean in its brisk, snappy and souring finish, the beer is sharper than tart but not fully dry or sour either.
Light, crisp and refreshing, the beer's character is somewhat sterile as it looses much about beer that beer lovers love, the ale flirts dangerously close with hard seltzer is a similarly soulless fashion. A quick aftertaste of watermelon and tanginess bounces off the palate quick and painlessly enough.
