Super dark brown/black with a tannish head. To me the nose did smell like a bowl of neapolitan ice cream, fact or power of suggestion?I thought taste was more coffee than anything else. Somewhat good amount of carbonation on the mouthfeel. Overall a good stout, easy drinking.

Good coffee flavor but I don’t think that’s what the brewery was going for. Didn’t taste any strawberry flavor.

No real aroma. Very light body for a craft stout, closer to a craft porter or Guinness in viscosity. Bitter and almost sour-like. A real miss for me.

Well it's quite sweet I do get a lot of chocolate and vanilla very little Berry to remind you of strawberry but it's hidden deep under the roast and chocolate of the beer. Not sure if I would buy it again but it was better than the macaroon brown ale

A single pour emptied the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. There wasn't much of a head produced and the liquid seemed to be a bit less viscose than most stouts. It hasn't much of a head, but the color is the typical black coffee brown of a standard stout. What it lacks in density is more than compensated by the aroma. It brings strawberry, vanilla and even some milk chocolate to the nose, immediately. They are all in the taste, with vanilla taking dominance. The strawberry becomes a second tier layer and the chocolate gets mostly lost behind the roasted barley. The best thing about this dessert beer is that it isn't overly sweet. It's not much sweeter than many unflavored stouts. Maybe calling this a dessert beer is to mislead, but its name does give just cause. There's no glass lacing, but there is a bit of an alcohol presence in the overall taste that mildly distracts. Overall, this is a marginally good stout. It's a little thin with its mouthfeel, but the additional flavorings are very nicely done. It may disappoint those looking for a sweeter and heavier version of a stout, but on its own merit, it's pretty good.

Dark, rich cocoa flavor with a strong smell of neapolitan ice cream. It has a thick foam head like a root beer float might have. Very creamy feel.

Look - DARK brown with a light-colored heavy frothing head. Looking good.

Smell - Very strong on cocoa nibs with hints of vanilla and strawberry puree. Very rounded on the nose and pleasant.

Taste - Cocoa nibs still come out on top at the finish, but more of the other flavors show up in the mouth.
Overall a bit astringent and not as smooth of a ride as I had anticipated. Still tasty, though!

Feel - A bit thin for me, but nice and low carbonation with a good tickle to the tastebuds.

Overall - A bit hoppier than expected, but a tasty beer with a great bready aftertaste and a nice cocoa flavor.

3 Scoops Neapolitan Stout.

A: Two inch dark walnut toned head is firm in its stance and spongey atop for a surface. The pour was a cola-coffee mixture, beautifully dark, silky upon its exit. There was a good sense of spongey lacing , long eloquent squiggly lines that encircled the vessel as well.

S: The nose quickly eluded to fresh ice cream, a blend of strawberry-cherry at first, with some chocolat base. Milk cream and sugar sweetness, as it warmed to a milky coffee base. The ice cream smelled natural with a above average awareness.

T: Slight black cherry hints for flavor before quickly transcending to a hearty coffee-roasted chocolate roast like base that kicks in hard and fast like fbi agent with a warrant. Some strawberry ambiance, but it is the dark hearty coffee bean roast malting and deep chocolate malt that really stands out here bringing some campfire and charred barley hints on the finish.

M: Silky, smooth, and eloquent on the tongue, it had a thick viscosity and dry feel for the mouthful. Very light if any carbonation, the coffee bean and chocolate malt base once agains brings a warmth of freshly ground roast to the inner cheeks.

O: Amazing how they nailed the ice cream factor so well on the initial aroma. The base malts were excellent by them self, silky smooth flavor, a goldilocks alcohol content, and some dried dairy creamer as a finishing touch.

A- This pours with a very tan colored head that starts out about two fingers thick before dissipating rather quickly into a thin film over top the brew.....as for the beer itself, it is a very dark brown, almost opaque black color. The carbonation would appear to be very fine and plentiful, as per what I see at the top and the lacing is modest at best, with the vast majority of the foam sliding back into the liquid promptly. Overall this isn't anything special to look at unfortunately.

S- Now this category earns big marks! Initial aromas of the aformentioned Neopolitan ice cream flavors of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, with the latter being the strongest....huge berry aromas, with the vanilla following in secondly and the chocolate being the most in the background. Huge sugary sweet heavy cream, yeast, stout malts and and overall delectable dessert like aroma about this one!

T- Now of course the flavors aren't quite as robust and sweet as the aromas let on, however, there are plenty of sweet fruity strawberry notes, followed closely in by creamy vanilla bean, and some milky chocolate notes soon after. Once the initial dessert like flavors are noted, there are some bittering cocoa/black coffee flavors and dry biscuit like taste on the finish. Some have said that this tastes artificial, but I really dont find that is the case.....it would be incredibly hard to get a perfectly authentic Neopolitan ice cream experience in with a stout beer, but I think the flavors are point on here!

M/O- This is a reasonably full bodied brew, with, as I was hoping for, a succulent and smooth carbonation, really allowing the full flavor profile to shine on the palate. For a 7.5% alc/vol beer, this is very well hidden and for what the style is, I find this to be quite drinkable! I am impressed with this PastryArchy offering and think it was crafted rather well....I would like to enjoy this one again before it is gone once and for all and recommend!

The PastryArchy Edition #26: Three Scoops pours black with a long-lasting, smallish tan head. The aroma is filled with strawberry ice cream notes. The flavor hints at vanilla and lots of strawberry ice cream flavors. Good body and feel. Overall, very rich, with ice cream flavors.

Purchased at Liquor Town, Louisville, KY. $16.99/4pk-16oz cans.

Pours a deep, mostly opaque brownish-black color. A one-finger, tan colored head on the initial pour.

A slightly sweet aroma.

A decent stout. Flavors of sweet, mildly roasted malts with a flavor of tart strawberries. Semi-ice cream like in the overall flavor profile but not creamy like ice cream. Slightly artificial tasting. The ABV is not noticeable.

Medium consistency, low carbonation.

Overall, more of a “gimmick” beer rather than a well-crafted stout. Not awful but not a beer I’d re-visit with so many more, better tasting stouts available. Cheers!

Appearance: Black glass, struggles to hold one side of thin foam. Some brown at the edges.

Aroma: Strawberry and vanilla, candy like, ... a bit artificial. Smells like ice cream.

Taste: It nails that grocery store Neapolitan ice cream strawberry flavoring, jam like, with firm vanilla creamy sweetness, a hint of an almost subliminally implanted coffee chocolate, then it all dries out with an overly sweet, almost chemically finish.

Mouthfeel: Low gritty carbonation, slick texture, heavy body, slight chew, oily to dry lingering finish.

Overall: A bit of a gimmick beer, ends up overly sweet without enough malt to support it. That said, it's a neat gimmick! Very ice cream oriented, and I enjoyed the experience, but it's a bit much. Kudos for going big and getting some good results.
