You may think I haven't learned after my past experiences with DuClaw brewing, giving them a chance here. You are probably right, but I learned about Biscoff cookies last Fall and this imperial brown ale is supposed to feature cinnamon and biscuit notes. It pours an opaque dark brown with a light brown head. I can smell something resembling biscuits with either a malty or cinnamon assist. The immediate flavor is a chemical malt and cinnamon. The chemical flavors persist all the way through, which are most unpleasant. The mouthfeel is almost non-existent, leaving only the disgusting flavor residue as the only proof of its existence. At 20$ for a 4 pack, shame on me for giving them another chance.

Tasted on tap at The Craft Bar in Fort Walton Beach, FL. I'm going to deviate greatly from the others who have reviewed this beer because I think it was an excellent "pastry" imperial brown ale. The others seemed to have tried it from a bottle or can, so maybe the draft version is just that much better.

This was a pretty beer; light brown with ruby highlights and nice head. Malty brown ale nose with some spice and molasses. Flavors are bright and bready, but punctuated by cinnamon and molasses that add depth and interest. I truly enjoyed this and would have ordered another to sip if I'd only had the time.

I’m by no means a beer enthusiast, but when I went to the bar with a couple buddies and ordered this (due to the name) I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I found was that this beer has subtle notes of an ash try with a similar drinking experience to that of laying down on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. On the other hand, the texture was pleasant, but it’s hard to justify drinking this when there are better and more niche alternatives like Coors Light.

Very solid brown ale, but lacking in the cookie notes.
Bought it because of the can, bought it again because I like good brown ales.

The PastryArchy - Airplane Cookie pours a dark brown with a small, lacing head. The aroma is weak, but it has a nice dry cookie note. The flavor is a little sweeter and doughy, then becomes bitter and metallic. Good overall. Overall, not bad, some off flavors take away, but overall enjoyable.

Snacks that would rarely get a mention on the ground are suddenly all the rage when strapped inside an airplane. The often banal and bland airplane cookie now finds a new home strapped inside a DuClaw beer can.

Dark, bark-brown and shedding a dainty tan froth, The PastryArchy Airplane Cookie passes the nose with a roasty, toasty scent laced with savory sweetness and a hint of cinnamon spice. Expectedly sweet to taste, the early palate opens with molasses, caramel and sorghum before rolling in a strong coffee roast, burnt toast and a burnt ember sense of savory. Bitter in finish, the exiting bite seems slightly acrid with an aftertaste of stale coffee and woodsy bitterness.

Full bodied but quite thin for a pastry ale, the ale carries a lot of promise on its label but falls short on those cookie aspirations.
