First brewed in 2011, this chocolate peanut butter porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

Drinking out of a pint glass.
Pours a dark, almost black mahogany with a good tan cheap.
Smells of peanut butter, chocolate.
Good mouth feel.
Funny bitterness overwhelms the other tastes. Some peanut butter comes through.

Appearance: Dark brown, almost black, with a centimeter of tan head and a little bit of lacing. Poured from a 12-ounce can with a simplistic stick-on label. The intriguing name of the beer in big, contrasting font is an eye catcher.
Aroma: Moderate to strong notes of milk chocolate, lactose, and freshly shucked peanuts.
Taste: Bitter baker's chocolate, roasted malt, oats, raw peanuts, a roasted coffee bean or two.
Feel: Dry with a medium body. Fairly strong carbonation that can make it a little frothy if you're not careful. There is an illusion of creaminess but that's just a false notion due to the taste of lactose.
Overall: Interesting beer. Good complexity on the tongue and nose but the feel is a little odd. Definitely worth a shot though.

Thick toffee head, smells of dark chocolates. Most bitter porter I've had, which the intense sweetness does a good job of quelling, but there's still a bitter edge to the aftertaste. Very smooth and creamy, like a lightly frothed milk.
Another dessert beer that mostly misses the point of being a beer, but it's not unpleasant. Interestingly I don't get peanut butter out of it.

Pours deep dark chocolate brown with a thick tan head, generous lacing. Aroma is peanuts and chocolate (imagine that.) Flavor follows the nose, sweet but not cloying. Slight bitterness rounds out the finish. Feel is a bit thin but adequately carbonated. Overall, a very pleasant beer.

This is in my top 3 favorite beers. The beer just hits you with chocolate and peanut butter aroma, it pours a nice 1-2 inch head, and is dark and black in a glass. The taste is amazing. Peanut butter up front with chocolate notes but not overpowering and a beautifully balanced hoppyness that makes this one of my favorite beers in the world.

Pours a dark reddish brown into a pint glass from a 12 ounce can with 1 finger of off white head. Aroma of straight up chocolate malt with some peanut butter evident …taste follows that with surprising drinkability. Mouthfeel is thinner than I would like but overall a fine effort.

Initial disclosure - this is in a bottle that has been in my fridge for a while (packaged May 12, 2020) - on me.
Pours black with scant mocha coloured head (5 years will damp that head).
The aroma is at the outset nutty - closest to Belching Beaver's PB Milk Stout I have come across - notes of caramel, cocoa, and a touch of roastiness.
Taste has some sweetness with dark chocolate, peanut butter, Reeses peanut butter cup, and a bit of backend char giving a roasty bitterness.
Smooth medium mouthfeel with blunted carbonation that five years of age will do. This is very good.

If you love dark beer you’ll enjoy this. The can boasts of chocolate and peanut butter flavor. However, the peanut taste is scant and overpowered by the dark chocolate notes. It is pretty good, but not enough for me to shout Sweet Baby Jesus!
UPDATE - I've given Sweet Baby Jesus a second chance and grown quite fond of it. In fact, it has worked its way into my go to rotation. The peanut notes have been much more intense than the first go around as well. So perhaps the initial batch was off or just stored improperly. This is a darn fine beer.

Dark brown color, off white foam head that briefly lingered. Aroma was sweet with hint of chocolate. Taste was a messy mixture of sweet. Feel and aftertaste left a mediocre experience.
