Pleasant malty quaff with a zingy resiny tang. Fruity and malty aromatics are remarkable.

Tasty and more interesting than the average Pale Ale. Light body and a soft finish. Is there really some pine or spruce in this? It's a perfect light touch of resins along with the faint flowery hop notes.

An excellent subtle brew that is another winner from Laurelwood. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Portland, Pearl District.

From the website:

This is Coniferous, our Winter Pale Ale. This beer has a deep, rich color with background roast caramel notes atypically for Pale Ales, but the bright pine notes, juicy fruit aromas and relatively dry finish let you know that it is hopped like a pale. Designed to celebrate winter and warm your hearth.

Chill hazed dark amber with a medium sized tan colored head. This is REALLY dark you could call this one red.

Smells quite malty. Caramel candy and pine tree. Mildly spicy scent with some cedar plank to it.

Starts out dry and fairly bitter with a savory taste to it. Flavors of wood, strong tea and caramel. Pretty much stays woody and dry, slightly spicy in the mouth.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is a dry middle of the road pale ale.
