Clear yellow brew with adequate white foam in the small nonic. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue. There is a hint of light malt and slight sweetness. I think of white grapes.
This tastes more woody than fruity. I think of blackberry seeds, with that bitterish and astringent flavor. To be fair, there is a tangy fruity note but that aftertaste is dirty and a little harsh. Not my favorite of the generally very good Laurelwood brews. From the 12 oz bottle purchased at Haggen Market in Burlington, Wash.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, passionfruit, orange and lemon citrus, mild citrus hops. Flavor is pale malt, citrus hops, lemon and grapefruit citrus juice and rind; finishes with lemon tartness, fruit rind citrus hops and slight residual mixed fruit. Medium bodied with a pleasant light creaminess; nice mouth feel. Smells nice with the advertised passionfruit notes, but the flavor is rather simple and much more oriented to citrus rind flavors and not much herbal or other fruit notes. A satisfactory citrus IPA, but not too complex nor really worth seeking out again.
