On tap at the brewpub in a tulip glass. Starts a hazy yet bright golden with a bouffant of white foam.
Aroma is highly estery - sweet apple orchard with windfall starting to rot.
Taste is fruity over any malt or hop flavors, but the taste lacks the oomph of the aroma. Still, there is some sense of the gravity in each sip.
The beer is way too easy to drink, but could use a little less sweet.

This beer poured at Portland International Beerfest as Laurelwood's "Mystery Special". 14 IBU & 8.9% ABV. Had it on-tap as a 4oz. taster.
A: A golden clear yellow with a large lingering effervescent white head.
S: Great smell - all the wonderful Belgian yeast regulars -heavy on the clove and banana esters. No discernable hops.
T: Hmmm....very sweet, big malty flavors but without any hop to balance.
M: Seems too malty and sort of syrupy, the candy-like tastes without hops make this seem very imbalanced. Doesn't seem as crisp or carbonated as it should to me. I know tripels can range greatly from quite dry to quite sweet - this definitely is the latter.
D: As much as I like the style, I din't really like this one much. Very little memorable about it beside the one-dimensional sweetness.
All this being said, I will look for this on-tap at the Pub or around town, why not give it one more shot to see if my taste buds may have been off (I WAS tasting this in the midst of a festival, right?)
