Yes, hops is right. But also citrus, well integrated. Pours a clear copper, amber. Smell is citrus and booze. Almost a brandywine smell, quite wine-y.

Boozy citrus is the immediate taste. The citrus is candied tangerine, more grape as in wine than say, grapefruit you might expect. Light feel pine in the back end. The candy makes it taste boozy, especially at the aftertaste.

Biscuit lager feel, the dankness is subdued by a malt underlay and the sugary feel makes me think it's stronger than it letting on. Not bad, well balanced different take on a DIPA.

Served in tulip. Poured a lightly hazy coppery orange color with over an inch and a half of just off-white head that had very good retention and lacing.

The aroma was a nice blend of malt and hops, somewhat of a surprise for a fresh hopped ImpIPA, but had a somewhat subdued presence. The flavors were a bit more malt forward than I was expecting, I had just finished a FH Pils by the same brewery that was a real hop-bomb, and this was a nicely balanced brew which was a pleasant surprise. The hops were mostly pine and citrus, with just a trace of a floral aspect around the edges.

The body was very full and smooth, again a pleasant surprise for the style. Drinkability was pretty good, a couple glasses would go down easily enough. Overall, a pretty good take on the style, and not the typical example of the style. Probably a must try if you see it.
