The experimental doesn’t always require using obscure ingredients or unearthing ancient beer styles. For our Hoppy American Wheat Ale, the goal was to develop a wheat beer that was not dominated by the yeast strain. Instead, this refreshing, late summer release has dominant tropical fruit hops notes of mango, papaya, and pineapple alongside the creamy wheat character we all know and love.

Almost a year later, from my rediscovered notebook.
12 oz. bottle poured into a willibecher.
A-Hazy pale gold. Head retains well, a little rocky. Off-white in color. Sticky lumps of lacing.
S- Bright citrus and tropical fruit. Hints of pine. Malt is faintly biscuity.
T- Dull citrus pith, some straw flavor. A little bit of wheat.
M- Rather light. Mild, bittersweet finish.
O- Decent. Mild, dull flavors, however.

12 oz bottle poured into a slim pint glass
A- A hazy golden amber color with a four finger white head.
S- Fruity, tropical fruits, mangos, hint of pineapple, some oranges, wheat, pales malts, piney, hints of peppercorns.
T- Fairy fruity, big piney finish, citrus, wheat.
M- Smooth, creamy medium body.
O- I don't think this bottle is that super fresh, but it is very enjoyable. Worth trying if you get the chance.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass in February 2015.
Appearance: Golden color, with nice thick and light colored head. The head lasted a long time, and left a nice coating on the inside of the glass.
Smell: Strong hops bitterness in the aroma, as well as a strong citrus aroma. There is some sweet aroma, which contrasts with the hops for a nice aroma.
Taste: An interesting mix of hops, citrus, and herbs in the flavor, that make for an interesting and complex ale, but the hops dominate. There is a nice after-taste, that lasts for a while but not too long.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and crisp, with a medium body.
Overall: This is an interesting and complex ale. There is a variety of flavors.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Expected great head and lacing from a hoppy wheat beer, mild haze from the yeast. Wheat, yeast and hop resin give suggestions of bread and citrus rind. Very smooth and slightly creamy in a fluffy medium body. Mellow bitterness but the flavor is more intense. A good quaff, perhaps a filtered version would let the hops pop a bit more.

I purchased this from brass rail deli, enjoyed chilled in an IPA glass shared with tenderbranson69
The color is a lightly hazed golden amber with visible carbonation with rocky thick white head and rings of lace with fine bead. The smell is slightly floral and citrus with herbal accent and dank scent with mild fruity yeast and lightly grapefruit scent bu mostly pine hop scents as it warms with low malt aroma. The feel is tangy with moderate bitterness and light astringency and slight alcohol in the feel with mild hints of malt sweetness and light tangy tropical aspect.
The taste is very good with slightly citrus hop and spicy flavor with mildly herbal taste and slight tropical quality with slight grassy flavor and mild orange rind light astringent aspect with semi-dry flavor as it finishes with mostly dry quality. Overall I really liked this -very drinkable and extremely fresh with nice wheat and hop comb -excellent hop flavor
