This beer was very disappointing. I thought this was the worst of the holiday pack and that is saying a lot. The only one that I found passable was the Hefeweizen.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.
Nice stickage with the head, deep brown that pour clear with ruby highlights.
Toasted malt, hazelnuts, and toasty wood in the aroma with a faintness of caramel and bread ... clean though the woodiness lingers.
Maltiness stays true to the style as much as it can, the hazelnut influence compliments as does the wood character. Slight warmth from the alcohol is very clean. Stands strong even if the body might be a bit lacking for a Scotch Ale.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter (063A15)
A: Nice bit of ruby and amber with the tiniest of collars. Just a slight head upon the initial pour.
S: I get a lot of peanut butter, but that is likely a combination of the style, hazelnut and oak.
T: Still getting used to this style. Interesting kind of low-ABV approximation of the actual spirit.
M: Tiny, even bit of carbonation.
O: Good enough, and one of the better from the box.
