A decent malty brew. Brown color , big beige head. The aroma of malt and caramel with some earthy. Malty sweet taste, with bread and caramel notes.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours black with a large light brown head. Smells of dark roasted grain, very slight fruitiness. Tastes of sweet fruit with some light grain. Beer is medium bodied yet very easy drinking. Overall, a good beer.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep brown color with a large off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains brown sugar, dark fruit, lager yeast, caramelized malts, some chocolate and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, brown sugar and dark fruit. Then some breadiness comes in from lager yeast and a hearty malt character. There is a slight touch of alcohol sting. The hops presence is very mild and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are others in the style that I would choose first.

12 oz bottle poured into a chalice

A- A clear deep ruby red with a small mocha head.

S- Dark fruits, some caramel malts, bready, hints of cloves, slightly earthy.

M- Some dark fruits and caramel malts, toast bready malts, some earthy spice and hops in the finish.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- Not a bad doppelbock, pretty easy to drink, but not my favorite in the style.

12oz brown bottle, sample from brewery.

Big healthy looking head, glowing clear garnet hue when put up to the light. Clean malty nose, sweet with toasted grain and a hint of alcohol. A big malt bomb, sweet and toasty ... perhaps a little too sweet for my liking but still a decent sip. Was hoping for a bit more malt depth and balance.

I enjoyed this bottle chilled in a mug purchased from Brass Rail in Campbelltown.

The color is dark brown with very good clarity and 2 fingers of medium brown head with fine bead and carbonation is visible with lace that sticks. Smell is rich with caramel and light toast in the smell with slight spice and a gentle alcohol nose with a mild dried fruit from yeast with a hop scent which kind of woody. The feel has a good level of sweetness without being cloying and medium carbonation with light bitterness and mostly dry feel with mild alcohol and mostly dry feel mid palate into a spicy finish.

The taste is somewhat creamy with toasted malt and caramel with slight spice profile perhaps from hops with yeast and mild biscuit quality with gentle woody hop flavor with balancing sweetness and a dry warming finish. Overall a pretty decent bock -I would consider this mediocre example of a doppelbock but worth trying and pretty tasty in general.

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Great classic body look here. Deep mahogany red with excellent clarity, clear and crystal, a little bit of cola sized carbonation though, but very little of it and most of it sticking to the bottom of the glass. Head is soapy to foamy in texture, with a classic two finger top and slow meringue flat island. Good staying power, deep and dark. Pretty impressive.

Off the pour the aroma seems to at first hint at some dark clove, but later inspection the bouquet is quite closed. Minimal caramel and some mild toast. Hints of dry grain and clove but really small and hard to pick up. Quite quiet down there I have to say.

Palate does alright. Lots of sticky lager yeast residue on this. Mild caramel but once again with a sticky yeast twinge to it. Mild sweetness with also a bit of a watery feel, but with a hint of toffee. Aftertaste really hits with thick yeast quality, but also not much classic malt depth, and some overly dry sensations.

This isn't bad but it's missing a lot of thick malt and classic sweetness and bakery qualities I associate with the style. The yeast character is really noticeable and takes over the palate, with the malt sweetness getting knocked aside a little. It's ok but probably not a memorable doppel in my personal book.
