Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, light chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, a bit of anise, just a touch of alcohol. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Pours a medium brown, that settles into the glass with a frothy tan head. Just a hint of light comes through the brown body. Aroma is toasty bread, hints of cocoa and a dash of roastiness. Flavor is almost in between a brown ale and a porter. Toasty malts, hints of roasted malts, a bit of nuttiness and a dash of cocoa. Feel is medium bodied, no slick oily feeling you find in some porters. Medium-high carbonation for the style. Overall, not a terrible beer, but not the way I like my porters. Anise was not noticeable for me.
