Ale brewed with hot pepper and cherries.
Sweet cherry meets its pepper counterpart, both balanced by traditional Gose tartness. Perfect trifecta defined.

Pours light red. Foamy, medium, light pinkish head that fades fast.
Smells tart cherry, pepper and salt.
Tastes tart cherry, lemon and a hint of saltiness. Finish is dry with pepper, heat and light bready malt. lighter body and high, fizzy carbonation.

I just conducted a small horizontal of Flying Dog's beers back in mid-January & now it becomes incumbent upon me to keep current with their latest offerings as they become available. Note that I am the one responsible for the initial add, the Notes & the approved pic. I am glad that someone else gets credit for the first review.
From the bottle: "Ale brewed with hot pepper and cherries."; "Sweet cherry meets its pepper counterpart, both balanced by traditional Gose tartness. Perfect trifecta defined."
I Pop!ped the cap & began a gentle pour, in keeping with my New Year's Resolution and my Lenten denial. Aggro pours from bottles are now (mostly) a thing of the past. I am really coming to embrace a vigorous in-glass swirl since it is much less likely to bungle things up. Well, now! This action garnered me two-plus fingers of fizzy, foamy, pinkish head that resembled freshly-spun pink cotton candy before it disappeared. Color was, indeed, pinkish (SRM = N/A) with NE-quality clarity. Mouthfeel was kind of thin, but for the style, it was not inappropriate. The taste was riotous, ranging from tart to slightly sweet to a light burn! Between the lemony flavor usually imparted in a Gose and the tartness of the cherry, that would have been sufficient, but the peppery heat was like a lit fuse on the cherry bomb atop this particular sundae. Finish was tart, dry and mildly hot. My bald spot seemed to disagree as I got a light sheen of sweat breaking out. This was kind of fun to try, but it would not be a regular thing for me.

Interesting concept what if you took a cherry gose (love cherry!) and add hot peppers?
Looks as red and cherry like as expected with a 1/2 inch of froth that settles to a nice looking ring. Smells of salt and coriander but I am not getting much pepper or gose sourness. Taste is kind of muddled the tart cherry flavor kind of round out the pepper heat making for just a smooth yet salty brew. Less burn than the last Habanero beer I had. Body is light as drinks well for the expected ABV.
Overall it's a different idea to mix spicy with sour which I like the idea of sweet and sour more. Like this a bit less than the chocolate Habanero
