Sweet and sour. Only one of those describes Serina, our tour guide who spreads the Gospel of Gonzo in our tasting room day after day. Both describe her pitch during our annual Brewhouse Rarities retreat for a crisp Pilsner with a twist of lemon and lime.

Very refreshing summer beer. Just the right amount of lime tartness and smooth going down. Give it a try.

This beer pours a a bright clear gold with a minimal head. The aroma features semi sweet cracker malts with a hint of lime peel. The flavor features those fairly sweet cracker malts, with very little lime and a bit of a sugary feeling. The mouthfeel is full for the style, with bright carbonation. Overall this is an okay beer, but I could have used more citrus character, and a bit of a drier body.

Bought a 6 pack on a whim, definitely a good choice. Really well balanced with a perfect amount of citrus and breadiness. Possibly the perfect summertime beach/boat beer.

It has been yet another slow Summer's day here at Chez Woody. Yesterday, I awoke & decided to make a foray to Harrisburg & westward into Cumberland County for the day. I wanted to (finally) visit the BrewHouse Grill & 5020 State BC in Camp Hill, make my way back to their sister location, Ever Grain BC, stop in at the Federal Taphouse over that way & make my way back to Harrisburg for my return. I should know by now, but my celebrity preceded me & I had a blast that expanded to take up the entirety of the day. Phew! Time for a beer.

Having Pop!ped the cap, I with a Gussie Busch pour into the C of the glass. This resulted in just under two fingers of fizzy, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a pretty Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a definite lime presence & I would probably have guessed "Gose" if I did not know otherwise. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, but really, what do you expect from a Pilsner/Lager? The taste was pretty light, very much of its lime addition and quite reminiscent of a Corona with lime on the beach in Mexico. C'mon, don't tell me that yer that much of a snob that you never tried one. This beer, much like a cold Corona, was light, bright, refreshing and the perfect thing on a hot, humid Summer's day. If you tell me that you are reaching for a Scottish Ale instead, then prepare to have me call B.S.! It's too humid & hot for anything but this. I was finding it quite nice as I partake of a cool breeze with the back (kitchen) door open. Finish was semi-dry, but citrusy and quite refreshing. Izzit too much to ask them to put it in a CAN?

On tap at brewery:
Pours a clear golden body, maybe leaning towards the darker end of the color. The white head sits nicely atop the beer, fading at a moderate pace to a thick collar, then eventually to nothing. I think I drank this slower than I was supposed to. No lacing.
Nose is grain bread, lightly toasted, with the additional citrus notes light and fading throughout the beer.
Taste brings the lemon-lime forward. It’s a bit like a 7-Up/Sprite, but WAY less syrupy. There’s a little stickiness, though. A fairly clean beer, there’s a nice pin-prick carbonation that rains tiny blows on my tongue up front. The bready notes fall back in at the end of the beer, though the lime accent lingers to the end as well.
An ok beer, not one I’d seek out, but would have again as a light option if the pickin’s were a little thin.
