A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.

S: Pleasantly tart, peach is there but somewhat restrained, crackery malt, and a little wheat twang.

T: Lactic tartness, peach and apricot, crackery malt, and a little wheat twang.

M: Light to medium body, somewhat lively carbonation.

O: I wouldn't mind if the peach came through a little more, but as it stands it's a nice change of pace beer on a hot day.

 

Welcome back to my New Odds & Sods Beer Sunday (Week 746)! I don't get why some are down on Flying Dog's beers, but I am not one of them. I visited their original brewery in the shadow of Coors Field back in 2001 & as an HST fan, I really dig the Ralph Steadman labels. Today has taken on a fruited theme at its outset & since this one is ready to go & I have drank, reviewed & rated MANY FDB beers, this certainly a) fits the day's theme & b) is yet another fruited beer for all of you fruits out there! #PrideMonth 8=)

"It's crunchy and every nut's a little fruity and every fruit's a little nutty!" ":=( I don't know why I bother talking to you, Archie!" "Yeah, well, that goes double for me! Whyncha make like Edith over there and stifle?!?" LOL.

From the Bottle: "When Joy needed it -- during a particularly necessary New Year's Day brunch -- the bellini was there for her. She vowed then and there to bring the deliciousness of her Italian savior to the masses. Armed with determination and a damn good pun, she pitched the idea of marrying sweet peach with a tart Berliner Weisse to our brewmaster. Now, we're all believers."; "Peachy!"

For Beer Nerds: Malts - Wheat; Hops- Perle; Special - Peaches; IBU - 7

I Pop!ped the cap on this delicious Sunday morning brunch beer & began a moderately-paced C-Line pour. The bottle backlog is dwindling quickly & I am not saddened in the least. The favor was returned in the form of the formation of just under two fingers of fizzy, foamy, soapy, off-white head with extremely limited retention. Color was a cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4- 5). Nose was brilliant with peaches! It smelled like peach preserves, or better, peach butter! Mmm. Yum! Mouthfeel was thin & watery, but that is par for this particular course. The taste began with a pronounced tartness, but the peaches quickly asserted themslves & provided a beautiful counterbalance. Finish was semi-dry, never losing sight of the base beer, but fruity & peachy enough to live up to is name. I am now contemplating this with champagne as a Peach Bellini Weisse Mimosa. Hmm. The day gets better & better & more & more interesting as it progresses. It is almost as though I had a plan for this Sunday! ;=)

Looks, smells, and tastes exactly like a peach bellini. Very refreshing. The only reason it doesn't get higher marks is that it isn't complex at all and might be a touch too sweet (just like a peach bellini, I suppose).

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by 7/8/19, so plenty fresh.

Pale, slightly watery golden yellow body. Small fizzy head quickly dissipates to a faint ring and covering, then nothing, despite constant carbonation.

Tart, wheaty aroma

You get the feel of the peaches, but the tartness of the base beer is much stronger. It's dry at times. The peach flavor does come through more at the end, making the finish more balanced than the initial drinking.

Mouth is a touch over medium, finish bittersweet and dry.

Overall, definitely a drink for the warm weather. Just not something I could handle a session of.

 

The clear golden colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” off white head that soon recedes to become a thin irregular island of foam with small ring around the glass and leaving little lacing behind on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates a couple of slender arches and a few patches of foam.

The aromas are mostly about the peaches but there’s also a bit of tartness and touch of wheat.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose, there are the peaches, some tartness and some wheat. As the beer warms the tartness become more noticeable but is still retrained.

The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied, clean and crisp both with the active prickly carbonation and the light tartness. The finish begins as the peach moves forward a bit and then the sweetness and other flavors begin to fade leaving slightly tart peach tinged ending to persist for a while as it moves to the back of the palate.

Overall this beer is a drinkable, enjoyable, summer time beer that I may have again sometime. The focus is on the peaches and the other flavors support and enhance them.

 

 

Golden in color with very minimal head and consistent carbonation. Aroma is sugary peaches and a light grain. Taste is light with the oeach being string in the middle and then coming back for an encore at the end of the first swallow. Mouthfeel is crisp, lightly sour and dissapates quickly into light oeach essence. Good flavors and seemingly right in for the style

Great nose. Some haze lovely peach notes and a slight biscuity note on the finish. White head. 4.2 I think easy to drink

A nice light peachy and slightly tart sour. Nothing special but easily drinkable.
