This salt 'n pepper tripel masquerades as a well-behaved Belgian table beer. Then it cleans your clock with a blast of spicy peppercorn and pink Himalayan sea salt. Surprise! You just got shotgun banged.

This has been in the fridge for weeks. I knew it would be good, but it keeps better than most styles, so no rush. And it deserved a good tasting. It's not a disappointment.

It pours deep golden and slightly cloudy. Minor fizz. The aroma is a lovely mix of amazing hopppy goodness, overwhelming the yeasty Belgian taste very nicely. They show what you can do with this style if you are willing to put great American ingredients into the brew.

Highly recommended. I wonder if I can find some of these floating around in the stores around here. I hope so.

Best By Date: 4.15.20 (Looks like I missed this one by a month.)

A - Clear medium gold color with tons of vibrant carbonation and thick, bright white creamy head. The carbonation is impressive in this beer.

S - Some citrus fruitiness, light pepper spice, bready yeast, and some bubblegum presence on the nose.

T - Light spice, pepper, some yeast presence, some delicate saltiness, peppercorn, and citrus buried deep down.

M - Overly thick for the style and wet on the finish.

O - Pretty rock solid and being this is a month past the best buy date I'm quite impressed.

Medium body with just below average carbonation.
Aroma is yeast, yeasty bread, spice
Taste is similar to aroma yet the salt doesn't show up too much. Pepper is more dominant and lingers in the aftertaste.
This was good even if it didn't completely come together okay

Respectable tripel. Not sure I'm getting the salt & pepper combo. Some pepper perhaps, like you would find in a spicy saison. A little more hop bitterness in the finish than a typical Tripel. Its ok. Not one of Flying Dog's hits though, but not a miss either. Just kinda forgettable for the style.

Not a bad little triple as other stated the salt is not really evident but the peppercorn is quite good. A touch hoppy compared to what I am used to and not very sweet. Pretty smooth and buy these mostly for the off color cover art.

Enjoy by 4/15/20. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; white head that fades leaving nice retention and lacing. Great color. The aromas have some banana, bubblegum and cloves. Some pear along with some hints of green apple. Yeasts and malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose for the most part. More banana, bubblegum and pear. Some spices. The salt and pepper isn't really too noticeable, especially the salt. The pepper does come through in the finish. There's a subtle bitterness to this one. Yeasts and malts do their thing. Mild warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy and slightly creamy.

This is an alright tripel. It's more or less what you would expect from an "American Tripel". This one has a slightly odd finish that I can't quite put my finger on. It's not bad at all and is ultimately enjoyable for what it is.

Pours a crystal clear and very, very visually appealing gold to rosegold color with mild effervescence and a tight white to off-white foam head. Scent comes across as crisp and pretty traditional tripel-ish. Taste is pepper and salt up front, with pepper on the backside as the dominant flavors -- should have been no surprise, seeing as this is a salt & pepper tripel. Feel has a bit of stickiness and some of the bitterness of the pepper lingering on the tongue. A very interesting combination!

appearance: pours a beautiful crystal clear gold body with a tall and fluffy white head.

smell: strong belgain yeast on the nose. floral, a little spicy, and gently sweet.

taste: begins with a slight bit of cloves and salt. smooths out to a bitter and moderately sweet middle and finishes with floral hoppiness and receding bitterness. aftertaste is gentle pepper. doesn't even begin to taste of booze.

feel: nicely carbonated, medium body but it's still pretty thick and a little sticky as well.

overall: overall it's a solid take on a tripel from flying dog, but with the description talking about salt and pepper i was hoping for a little bit more. no complaints here as it's a super easy to drink 9% tripel, but for a brewery that usually pushes the limits of beer i'm a tiny bit disappointed.
