Peppermint Bark Stout from Flying Dog Snowplowed variety pack. 12 oz bottles purchased from Franklin Beer (12/30/21), Franklin, PA. $ 25.00 (including tax)/12 pack ($0.174/oz). Stored at room temperature in store and at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 2/2/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottle stamped on label “03.22.22”. Served at 43.3 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 47.6 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), hazy.
Body – Deep Brown (SRM 30), opaque. When rear-lite, still opaque but some precipitate is visible.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), fawn, good retention, diminishing to a five to nine mm crown and a complete cap with a few rocks.
Lacing – Excellent! Wide band of extremely tiny bubbles, eventually slightly opening into torn curtains.
Aroma – 3.5 – Chocolate and slight roasted malt, no peppermint. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Began with toasted malt and chocolate, no hops, no yeast. Initially no mint but it slowly creeps onto my palate. No ethanol (8.1 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Weak gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, lightly creamy, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 Meh.

Definitely not a peppermint stout at least not enough peppermint to really do it for me but the stout part is pretty nice. Slight roast more bitter than I expected but smooth. Overall not bad just not the peppermint stout I expected.
