We have a saying here at Flying Dog…when life gives you oranges, squeeze them until they’re dry, then add a bunch of alcohol. Inspired by the Maryland Shore’s most beloved beach cocktail, this one hits you with a wave of bright orange, then carries you off to sea with a citrusy, sweet finish. So tighten up those swim trunks, ‘cuz you’re about to ride a Tsunami of Citrus.

Has an artificial Tang sort of flavor. Not really my thing but borderline drinkable.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Creamy forming soft white head of three fingers right out of the can. Settles fairly quickly but does manage to hold shape for some time. Minimal lacing on an opaque solid orange body, nothing hazy or turbid though.
Aroma is of creamsicle vanilla and popsicle orange flavors. Muted sense of hop, and definitely pulling for the classic beach shore drinking experience scent. It's pretty much the only thing you can detect, not making much for diversity, but is at least giving the experience. It's either something you appreciate or don’t.
Palate is pretty underwhelming. Extremely wet bodied, not unlike a weak cocktail, with strangely a very fleeting Tang box juice like orange flavor. Minimal sweetness with a flat tasting orange. Somewhat mineral finish, but strangely there's no malt or hop or anything beer like to talk about here.
So where's the IPA in this? While still drinkable this comes off more like an ABInbev alcopop concoction, and not a very good one at that.

Flying Dog Brewery "Royal Crush"
12 fl. oz. can coded "ENJOY BY 11/12/23 07:57" and sampled on 08/17/23
$2.33 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy golden body is capped by a thumb's width of dense white foam. The aroma is quite citrusy with orange (the label notes blood orange and natural flavors). The flavor, perhaps not surprisingly, tastes like a beer with orange juice added. It's fairly malty and wheaty, and a little bit on the sweet side. That's OK though as there's enough acidity to it to dry it in the finish. It's fairly one-sided but that's OK too as this seems to be intended as a summer quencher. The body is medium and it's fairly zesty with carbonation. It's not the greatest orange-infused beer out there but I could certainly see picking up a case or two when the weather's hot.
