β€œIt never got weird enough for me.” – Hunter S. Thompson

We take our cult-classic Gonzo and age it for 3 months in bourbon barrels from Willett Distillery, causing our deep and dark imperial porter to get even more mysterious with notes of vanilla and a boozy bourbon warmth.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This nice imperial pours a pitch black with
a moderate head of khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and
sports some nice light lacing. Nose of astringent booze, oak, bourbon, vanilla, dark
coffee, and subtle char. Flavors open up in the glass with oak, vanilla, bourbon,
char, subtle coffee, dark cocoa, and mellow char. Mouth feel is full, smooth, rich,
coating, lightly warming, and finishing with a subtle bitter malt and char note drenched
in booze.

Overall, a solid brew but honestly like some of the other variants better.

Cheers

A dark chestnut froth occupies the top 3" of a Swiftwater Snifter, while the remainder is filled with the very dark brown Porter. Thick lacing replaces the head and continues down the glass as consumption proceeds.

Sweet bourbon is first to great the nose with dark roasted chocolate following quickly. Licorice is fairly strong, while mild malt provides a luxurious backdrop.

The bourbon is more reserved in the flavor, allowing wider range for the charred malt. Chocolate has that quality of 75%-80% dark cocoa nibs. There is only a light touch of sweetness, with high malt bitterness front to back. The finish is long with a moderately high level of charred malt. Warmth allows some cigar ash flavors to develop.

The alcohol level is just as prominent as one would expect, the only surprise being how little it shows in the aroma and flavor. The body is light to medium with a course silk texture and soft carbonation.

This is an appropriate night cap. I added a mild Montecristo cigar and found the beer to mellow and sweet plum to become apparent.

12oz bottle from my brother. Near black pour, thin beige head. Roasty, sweet aroma, bourbon. Taste is roasty, smoky, mild sweetness, oak and a little bourbon heat

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a beautiful inky brown with a modest but persistent light tan head. Initial impression is chocolate, bourbon, and a touch of caramel. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and perfect for the style. Finish fades to a slight cocoa sweetness. Well done!
